I wore my 1950s vintage brooch today. These old custom jewelry can look so out of place sometimes, but they do take me back in time!

I count my dogs right before bed time out of a form of habit. Tonight I went to bed without doing so and for some reason it felt like the bedroom was a little too quiet. Turned out, Uggie was locked out of the house in the backyard, and he was waiting by the backdoor the whole time... to think my little man could have spend the night outside with the coyotes!

These boots are made for walkin'
I'm going to a Southern themed party tomorrow night, it's the perfect excuse to buy a good pair of Southern boots. Back in my college days, Sienna Miller and her Western boots were all the rage, anyone else remembers that?

I found these pictures floating on the internet. This is one of my favorite street foods while studying music in Beijing many life times ago.  I used to travel by bus for an hour every week to the conservatory for piano lessons. On the week when I was lucky enough, there would be a vendor with a food cart waiting right there when I got off the bus station.  Despite my parents constantly warning me not to buy street foods because they were of "filthy sources," I just couldn't resist. I would always order one, watch the vendor pour a couple spoonful of flour paste on the hot grill and skillfully making a thin omelet like spread, then break an egg and evenly smooth it out on top, added on a little salty soy bean paste, green onion, sesame seeds and some other sorts of magic, and all of a sudden you have a handful of steamy hot, soft on the outside, crunchy on the inside mouth watering, heavenly goodness!

Winter in Beijing was not nearly as severe as my hometown, but it could get cold non the less. After being rocked left and right on the bus for an hour, I would have a large bag filled with music score on one hand, and this 50 cent omelet thing on the other hand, eating my delicious steamy food, walking and dreaming about one day becoming a concert pianist and playing music in a grand concert hall.  It was such a wonderful happy memory.

From very early on I taught my doggies the value of work. One of Kelly's primary job is testing the beddings around the house, she takes her job very seriously and works hard at it.

Fie Fie helps out too...

See? It's no easy job being a dog!

New Year Preparation

I always like to do a bit of preparation at the end of each year to welcome the new year, although this year things were very challenging, I...
