Since I live in a old house, storage has always been a problem for me.  Pretty much all of my storage in the house has been a source of utter frustration and shame.  My pantry for example, it was more appropriate to refer it as a source of horrible headache rather than even a functioning space as stuff just got piled and I had no idea what was in it after a while.

Finally this week I decided to pull myself together and decluttered my tiny little pantry.  I pulled everything out, plenty of stuff have expired and then more things are simply duplicates that I didn't know I already had.  So off goes the stuff that had gone bad, and things that will never get used in time but are still good I gave them away.  The rule of thumb that I went by was that if I didn't have a place for it, I didn't need it.

Just by eliminating unused items I got most of the space back for things I really needed.  Even after so much was thrown out, I still have more than I needed to make delicious meals.  Then I counted the items that needed proper storage and went out and bought some glass jars.  Not only they seal foods properly, make them easier to see, but also so much more attractive than flimsy plastic bags.

Now I'm done organizing my pantry, I think I'm going to enjoy cooking a lot more than before!
