A mini kitchen tour!

I don't have a full on vintage kitchen yet, but I'm working on it!  So far I've had the ceiling painted a lime green color, installed three school house lights from Schoolhouse Electric, ripped off wood paneling in the breakfast nook area, re-plastered the nook ceiling, and replaced the odd looking home depot light fixture with a antique French cherub light.

In the meantime the kitchen is still great to cook in, it reliably churns out meals for me and my doggies and fresh hot coffee in the morning, I have no complaints!

My next project is building a breakfast bench and table like this one for the breakfast nook area!  Think I will have it done before the end of year? Maybe!

If you ever had a chance to talk to my dog Fie Fie, he would tell you that my backyard is full of surprises, sometime it's a lizard, other times it's a really big lizard, or it could be a bird or squirrel too, it often keep him entertained for hours at a time. Today while I was moving this big jade plant around, I discovered a few pieces of leaves poking out from the planter. I thought it was some kind of weed, but it wasn't until I pulled a leaf out I noticed bulbs at the base of the leaves

I instantly recognized that it was an orchid! Now I have no idea how orchids multiply, but I bought the same type of orchid from the nursery a while ago, and it has the most exotic flowers, so you can imagine how I happy I was when another one grew out from a planter on its own!

Here's a better picture of the leaves, how exciting! I hope it will bloom soon! Now this discover to me is almost exciting as Fie Fie discovering a big lizard!

I purchased a crab apple tree in the winter hoping to use it in my fairy gardens, turned out, it was just a bit too big for fairy gardens, and I didn't fertilize it until a week ago. This week suddenly I found flowers on it, so this is how crab apple flowers look like, consider the fruit is very small, these flowers are quite big!

My miniature pomegranate fruit is almost ready for the fairies!

I repotted this fairy garden today because the old wood planter fell apart. This one doesn't look too bad!

I have been working non stop through the weekends for several weeks, so when Monday came along I just wanted to relax and work in my garden! I caught this view while watering the plants, the sunlight was so soft and the trees and flowers were glistering in the light!

I'm kind of on a Ginger Rogers kick, I've watched the Stage Door at least twice in the last week already!

I think it's pretty easy to see why pink Serissa is my favorite miniature tree. I have been very diligently watering my plants for the past couple of weeks and it shows! This morning I noticed that the amount of blooms on it are quite amazing!

Here's Fie Fie getting his early morning dose of Vitamin D!

I saw Stuart Little I about a few months after I moved to the U.S., the Little house was so charming it left such a strong impression on me, I think that was the beginning of me loving old houses, the passion never left me! Luckily I still have a kitchen that awaits renovation, I could spread my paws on my new project with something like this Little kitchen:) For a more detailed article about the Little house, read here

A long day for me, and doggies got late dinner.

At the end of day, there's nothing that relax me more than watering my plants!

I saw this pretty fairy garden at my local nursery and wanted to duplicate one for myself.

Unfortunately, mine was much too bare.  It's going to take me a bit longer to get this garden fill up a bit more...

I spent some time in my backyard today refreshing my fairy gardens. They have been through some serious neglect this summer but they somehow survived. The last image is a picture of my serissa tree, I love the silhouette of this little tree, it seems so dainty but full of happiness!

I always like to do a bit of preparation at the end of each year to welcome the new year, although this year things were very challenging, I...
