I finally figured out the secret to not wasting food is to cook with smaller pots. I made this chicken and veggie soup after work and it's super quick and tasty. This tiny pot makes about three bowl of soup, and now I have dinner and left over for breakfast tomorrow morning!
Top off the finished product with cubes of avocado and black tortilla chips, turned off the light and lit a candle, that completes the amazing, easy and elegant dinner for one!
I love treasure hunting in vintage and antique shops, some shop owners are so gifted with curating and displaying their merchandise, that shopping there is almost like walking into a period movie set.
This 1920s tray was something I had seen before and thought it had been sold. The bottom is lined with faded green velvet and the glass mirror had delicate flower etching on it. When I discovered that it was still available, I couldn't pass up my opportunity this time around!
Here it is sitting on my coffee table displaying some of my vintage brooch collection, what a beautiful little tray!
My father came and stayed with me for about a month and half and just left yesterday, it was hard to say the least, but I'm slowly reclaiming my house back. I think as a person ages it's absolutely important to have your own space and your own life, there may not be much to it but still a place you can relax your mind and just be yourself after a long work day.

I found this large kerosene oil lamp at my local antique store, it's simplicity is so perfect. I turned off the lights in the house after setting up this lamp, my house instantly quiet down. It made a lot of items in my room seemed redundant. Our modern life is so complicated, there are so much background noise and distractions, I wonder if all that modern conveniences or advances are worth the price we pay for? Sometimes it could be a good thing to step back in time a bit.
