Prior to the pandemic my fashion style largely involves vintage jewelry and clothing pieces that have a 1950s hourglass silhouette. This year, especially the past few months my preference for clothes have completely changed. Over a year of isolation, lockdown, health struggle and mental weariness, glamour is as far from my mind as Mars. There is also no occasion to dress up, absolutely none, as a result, everything that I'm loving at the moment are utilitarian, simple and relaxed. Basically, the kind of clothes that take me from point A to point B in a busy day while keeping me comfortable working all day without getting in the way.
Every year I like to fresh up my wardrobe a bit, just updating a few key pieces can really freshen up a look and make me feel much more current in my outfit. A few items that I'm really loving at the moment are loose fit jeans and chunky heel boots, plus a super comfortable tote that double as a gym bag on occasion.
While I'm not too keen on patterns and floral dresses at the moment, I still have a lot of floral dresses in my wardrobe and I'm looking forward to wear them for a coffee outing with friends or even a walk on the beach. A little bit of outfit planning definitely helped keeping me motivated and productive! I don't know what it is about fashion trends, it's completely frivolous but after seven or ten years of liking the same style I can see why people just want to move on and have a change and break away from the past.
I feel this one hundred and ten percent!!! I bought some cute loungewear during the pandemic, and I basically spent a year in pants with an elastic waist. While I still don't prefer an elastic waist in my clothing, I would roam, loaf, and do whatever I wanted and was not restricted by my clothes. When I finally started to go out more, all I could think was "Oh my, my clothes are so fragile." I've started to shift back into tees and have been buying jeans with like three percent spandex to them. I want more freedom to move and not have to get a lot of thought to how my clothes will be impacted by my movement.
ReplyDeleteYeah totally! I used to wear very form fitting dresses, high heels, and vintage sparkly jewelry but forgot those, I don't fit into 95% of them and even less idea how to pair them anymore D; the pandemic has really changed things for me.
