Here is the latest member of our family, my Camellia Japonica - Pink Perfection.  I don't think this is the time for Camellia anymore, but still, I saw several of these trees at the nursery the other day, and the flowers just won me over instantly. As much as I seem to love plants, gardening is really a very new interest to me, and it only started after I moved into my new house. A few years ago I tempted to grow some roses and trees, while the roses barely made it, other plants were not so lucky.  My first Camellia was a tree with red flowers, it seemed so beautiful to me so I took it home and placed it under a sun spot. Unfortunately, not knowing anything about plants, it died a couple of weeks after I bought it. One night I dreamed that the tree came back to life with bountiful red blooming flowers. Of course, it sucked when I woke up!  I think this Camellia tree has a much better chance of making it, I'm going to get a pretty pot for it first thing when I get a chance.

I came home to a bouquet of beautiful flowers, the vase, the bow, the selection are all so pretty! That and a really good Margarita on the rocks and a funny movie just really made my Wednesday night, I hope I'm not being too high maintenance, or am I?

A new fairy garden of mine using a lavender star flower bonsai. I found this plant randomly at a nursery while searching for Hokkaido elm, while I didn't find Hokkaido elm, I found this bonsai with these delicate pink flowers. Lavender star flower will bloom all summer long, so it's the perfect choice as a fairy garden plant!

Here's a close look at the flowers, aren't they beautiful? The tree came already wired, the nursery owner told me to remove them in 6-9 months before the wire start to cut into the bark.

Last night I spent a good few hours freshening up my backyard fairy gardens. I never knew that fairy gardens take more maintenance than myself. The plants need to be regularly trimmed, watered, and fertilized or else they go wild. While I was cleaning up the backyard, moving pots and plants, watering the roses, I suddenly missed Bobby very much. He used to follow me everywhere in the backyard, especially at night when it gets all dark. Of course, he's never left my thoughts, and he's always in my heart!

A neighbor of mine runs her own gift shop in the city I live in, sometimes she will let me forage through her backyard and buy whatever I like for a really good price. A few weeks ago I found this super awesome birdhouse pedestal, the birdhouse is no longer there, but the square box on top of the pedestal is perfect for a fairy garden container. It took me another couple of weeks to find the time to get the big tall thing home, once here, I immediately ripped out the old plants inside and putted my own fairy garden in. I call this is my "Bobby garden," because there's a little black dog hiding inside:)

Two totally awesome plants that are ready to go in a fairy garden pot. I really don't have the time to do fairy gardening these days, but whenever I happen upon a nice bonsai tree or plant, I can't pass it up. Pictured on the left is a young apple blossom azalea that produces wonderful little flowers in the spring. The second is a Cotoneaster bonsai, it's got a thick trunk and wonderful shape to it.

Today while I was visiting my local nursery ( sometimes I go just to enjoy the beautiful flowers) I found these two pink Serissa bonsai sitting on the shelf not too far apart from each other, like it's nobody's business. They are the only decent sized pink Serissa I could find so far, and I have been looking high and low for them for quite a while, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw them. They are going to sit in the little bonsai pot until I find them a home in the fairy world:)

These days I'm just plain tired most of the time running from one place to the next, life is all work and no play sometimes, but I try to look at the rainbow and smell the roses!

So here is the new Uggie. It's been exactly three weeks since I adopted and picked him up from the animal shelter, we have come quite a long way. Remember I complaint about the bad smell and long hair and peeing all over the place? Well, at least part of the problem was taken care of. Last Tuesday I finally got him a appointment and had him groomed. I was suppose to wait for two weeks after the surgery but I waited for a few more days to give him time to heal. I think it's sufficient to say that, with a lot of help from my hubby, we've passed the most difficult phase in adopting a shelter dog on top of two we already have, and I'm pretty proud of that!

Here is a picture of Fie Fie, so it's been four days since grooming and his hair is already popping out like popcorns. He smells good like one too:) What's more? He now has a friend to wrestle with, run around as a team, bark at neighbors with renewed enthusiasm, and someone to have intellectual conversations with!

At last, my princess. When I got married, my husband laid down the law. Dogs are NEVER allowed on the bed, so, please don't tell him that Kelly was on the bed...

I haven't completely disappear off the face of earth, just very busy! Sometimes you just have to live life instead of writing about it:)

On another note, all three doggies got their hair cut this week, isn't Kelly adorable?

New Year Preparation

I always like to do a bit of preparation at the end of each year to welcome the new year, although this year things were very challenging, I...
