Things are going well in the fairy garden. I spent the entire Sunday cleaning out my backyard because the weather has gotten more pleasant over the past few days. I'm looking forward to spend some time relaxing in the backyard and doing some BBQ!

I attended the Spring Garden Show at South Coast Plaza over the weekend. It was so wonderful to see such a huge selection of rare orchids for sale! I purchased a couple of orchids from the show, adding them to my growing collection. If I do keep them alive til the next show, I will get a couple more!

A pretty good or bad day depending on how you look at it.  Thank goodness it's Friday, I've been needing a nice break!

Real fake tattoo... got a free sheet of tattoo stickers from Urban Outfitters with a jacket that I ordered. Now I'm playing with them:p

While I was treasure hunting in my own garage this weekend, I found these shoes that I've had for a few years. These were vintage when I bought them, unfortunately, only after I got them home did I notice that they were not all the same color. One is obviously more orangey than the other, as if somebody left one shoe under the sun for too long.  It just occurred to me today that a little bit of shoe polish could fix the problem, and it did. I now have two identical shoes:) Vintage shoes are super awesome, who's with me?

Good morning!  That big black cloud in the back is not a ghost, just my doggies chasing each other around the house:)

Over the weekend I went shopping in my own closet and rediscovered this cute Dior tote. It must have been at least six years old but I still really love it!

Here's the orchid pot I found yesterday.  Ever since my dormant orchid re-bloomed, I've been really encouraged to growing them.

The weather has warmed up once again after what had felt like being jolted back into the middle of winter for a few days.  I didn't have too much plan in mind for my weekend, but I discovered a wonderful little farmers market near me, a cooking equipment/exotic foods store, and found a very pretty orchid pot.

There are certain experiences in life I actively seek out, taking a train ride, getting on and off from very old stations belong to one of those experiences.

Over the weekend my hubby and I took a short trip to San Diego.  This was non work related, friends free trip that's just for the two of us. We were there to relax, and stayed at the wonderful, historical Grant hotel.

Besides the service being amazing,  (we were there for two breakfasts in a row, and on the second day the waiter recalled our last orders and called us out by our last names. ) they also serve the most divine in house pastries. I will say these were better than the ones I had in Paris, if that should mean anything at all.

We spent most of the day visiting the zoo. I have no pictures but it really brought back memories of childhood because, the last time I was in a zoo was when I was 5 maybe? We saw all kinds of bugs and monkeys and lizards, I was super giddy and happy. Now, if only I could have a hippo in my backyard, my life would be perfect!

I purposely chose to see a baseball game instead of a Brahms concert for the evening because I was determined to learn to watch sports. We got wonderful seats, kind of a waste for a sport idiot like me, but my hubby was patient to explain the rules of the game to let me in on what's going on.

At night we wrapped up the evening with a juicy burger on our way back to the hotel, and headed home the next day.  It was such a refreshing weekend, hopefully we will go on more short and sweet little trips like this in the future!

I found a large mirror at Home Goods and my hubby was so good to get it home for me. I will be able to do some outfit posts from now on.

The Trader Joe near me has a pretty nice little selection of orchids. I like how they stock some of the unusual orchids as well as the more common ones. I have quite a few orchids in my house now, and I added these to my collection a little over a week ago!

When I came back from Portland, I redecorated my breakfast nook. I still have to install a little ceiling light, but I guess I will get to that when I get to that. The only problem? I had a few books free standing without book ends. Etsy came to rescue and I found these cute little vintage deer book ends. It arrived today and I am super super happy that I got it!

Spring has arrived at last for the O.C., if not other parts of the country. I have been sick for the past week which explains my lack of posts.

I had to sell my baby car last week because at this point it made little economic sense to keeping it. I was very sad to let it go. I've had this car for the past five years and there were so much memory attached to it. The first day when I bought it, after haggling long and hard with the dealer about price, they freshly washed the car and parked it right at the store front ready for me to pick it up. It was spanking new then and was my dream car.  Or the day I went to the animal shelter to pick up Bobby with all of his new stuff that I just bought for him. I set him on the passenger seat on his new doggy bed, he was so uncertain what was going to happen to him, but excited at the same time that he was out of the damn shelter. Little pieces of  memory like that went with my car when I sold it. Of course I almost started crying when the mechanic drove it away.

I kept telling myself that you can't hold onto things too much, life is all about moving forward.  I have no complaint on my new car, but to be honest, I will probably want to get another BMW in a few years.

My more enjoyable food post would have to wait for another day or two. In the mean time I am still trying to catch up with errands that piled up while I was gone. This morning I left the house at 9 am ready to work my way down the to do list, unfortunately right after I came out of the bank my car stalled. And since I was an idiot and didn't bother to bring my phone with me when I left, I had to run into the bank to call for help.  The first road side assistance came 50 minutes after I called and couldn't fix the problem, so I had to call again to get the car towed. It was just unreal to start my day like any good old regular day and having ended up getting stuck with some car problem for the rest of day. Finally after much waiting it was towed to my dealership. After a lot more waiting around, I finally got the car problem taken care of, had the shuttle dropped me off back at home and ready to take out my van from the garage, and then realized that I had left the key in my car back at the dealer.

It was just one of those days where I guess I kind of woke up on the wrong side of bed, luckily my neighbor lend me a much needed helping hand, took me back to the dealer to retrive my key and helped me to pick up my doggies from boarding.

I cooked a roast dinner at night and we all had some wine together to laugh it off,  it was a nice break from the terribly hectic day. At this point I'm ready to sell my car, it always seemed so hard to part with it but when it's starting to break down so often and becoming so costly to fix, it gets more difficult to justify keeping it.  What's going to happen next? We shall see...

New Year Preparation

I always like to do a bit of preparation at the end of each year to welcome the new year, although this year things were very challenging, I...
